About Our Jewellery

  • What is Elizabeth Stead jewellery made of?

    We use semi-precious gemstones and organic gemstones such as freshwater pearls, amber, coral and fossilized material. Other materials may be used and will be fully described. All metal beads, fittings and fasteners are sterling silver unless otherwise stated.

  • Is the sterling silver hallmarked?

    Hallmarking is only required when the total weight of metal in a piece is 7.78grams or heavier. The weight of silver in each piece is carefully calculated to ensure compliance with this law.

  • Are your gemstones responsibly and ethically sourced?

    We source our materials from well-established UK companies who obtain their stock from suppliers who as far as possible observe good practice in their sourcing and staffing policies.
    Freshwater Pearls
    Unless otherwise stated the freshwater pearls we use are commercially farmed
    Coral
    Unless otherwise stated, our coral is either sponge coral or a deep water, branched variety known as Sea Bamboo. These forms of coral are abundant and responsibly harvested. We do not knowingly use reef coral.

  • Is the item I buy unique?

    Every piece is individually hand made and while more than one piece may be made to the same design and from the same material they are not mass-produced. Some pieces will be unique by virtue of the design or some aspect of the material used. These will be highlighted as such so you can be sure that you have the only one.

  • Why do you give two lengths in the details of necklaces?

    All lengths and sizes are approximate. Depending on the size of the beads used, internal circumference of necklaces and bracelets and consequently the wearable length can vary. Two pieces can be of the same length when laid out open but if one has larger beads in the design it will be much smaller when fastened. Bracelets are made to be worn at the standard bracelet length of 7" (18cm), this may vary slightly according to the materials used.

  • Do you make matched sets of jewellery?

    We sell pieces individually and many are related - just click on the 'Related Items' button to see what they are. Please bear in mind that a gemstone may be suitable for necklace and earrings but not a bracelet as they usually receive much harder wear which could damage the gemstone, especially those which are 'soft' or have elements of cut or design which might make them vulnerable.

  • How do I care for my jewellery?

    Your jewellery will maintain its appearance and serviceability if it is properly stored and cared for. Keep your jewellery in its box or if with other pieces, ensure that it is not touching them, so as to reduce the risk of scratching and chipping. After each wearing gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dirt and skin products which may be on the surface and to keep tarnishing of the silver at bay.
    Please ensure that skin care, perfume, hairspray and other products to do not come into contact with your jewellery as they can corrode and permanently discolour it. Also, please do not wear your jewellery when showering, bathing, swimming etc and avoid wearing your jewellery in extremes of temperature and humidity
    Do not use liquid cleaners as they can irreparably damage gemstones, especially those which are porous.
    When you receive your jewellery, you will receive a tarnish retarder tab - a small black square of synthetic material. Keep the tab in the box with your jewellery and it will help to protect silver from tarnish for up to 12 months in a closed box, pouch etc. It will not adversely affect your jewellery if it comes into contact with it. It is non-toxic.

Shopping With Us

  • Do you have a shop?

    Elizabeth Stead operates an online-only business, we do not have premises that customers can visit.

  • How do I place an order?

    Select the item you wish to buy and click on the 'Buy Now' button. The item will then be added to your basket, the number of items in your basket will be shown in the 'Basket' at the top right hand corner of the screen.
    You can view what is in your basket at any time during the process by clicking on 'View Basket', You can add or remove items as you wish and click on either 'Continue Shopping' or 'Proceed to Checkout' at any time.
    Once you have selected everything you wish to buy during that visit click 'Proceed to Checkout' and follow the guidance to complete your purchase. We will send you an email confirming your purchase and another email when your order has been dispatched.
    You can register to create and account or simply proceed as a guest without creating an account.

  • Do you keep a record of my payment details?

    Yes we do.

  • Do you accept foreign currency?

    Our site operates in UK currency only and all prices are shown in UK GBP

Packaging

  • How will my order be packaged?

    Your jewellery will arrive in a glossy white presentation box with protective wadding inside. It will be wrapped or banded in tissue paper and finished with our seal elizabeth0542.jpg The postal packaging will be a sturdy, protective outer.

  • Do you offer a giftwrapping service?

    Yes, we can gift wrap your purchases, the charge is £3.50 per box for this service. A combination of necklace/bracelet/earrings can be sent in one presentation box if suitable for the pieces concerned. elizabeth0535.jpg

Delivery

  • How soon will my order be dispatched?

    We aim to dispatch within 1-2 working days although this may increase at busier times such as Christmas. At such times, please contact us if you require further or more specific information.
    We will send you an email confirming the dispatch of your order
    All orders require a signature on receipt. If nobody is available to sign for the delivery, Royal Mail will leave a card for you to arrange collection from their depot or re-delivery at a suitable time.

  • Do you ship to multiple addresses?

    We ship to one address per order.

  • Where do you ship to and what it the cost?

    Shipping is free throughout the UK.
    For UK deliveries we use Royal Mail's Signed For service - a tracked service which gets your order to you by 1pm the following day. This service requires a signature on receipt. If nobody is available to sign for the delivery, Royal Mail will leave a card for you to arrange collection from their depot or re-delivery at a suitable time.
    BFPO addresses £9.00
    Overseas Deliveries £16.00
    For Overseas deliveries we use Royal Mail's International Tracked and Signed service - a service which is tracked from posting to delivery. This service requires a signature on receipt.
    European deliveries take 3-5 days
    non-European deliveries take 5-7 days
    NB: non-EU customers will be responsible for import duties and local taxes
    What are the last posting dates for orders before Christmas 2016?
    Orders for delivery in the UK (excl Channel Is): Wednesday 21 December
    Orders for delivery to: Asia, Far East (inc Japan) - tbc
    Orders for delivery to : Australia, Africa, Caribbean, Central and Southern America, Middle East - tbc
    Orders for delivery to: Cyprus, Eastern Europe, Greece, Poland and Canada - tbc

Your Order

  • Can I cancel my order?

    If you wish to cancel your order please return the confirmation email to us stating that you wish to cancel your order, or email us at info@elizabethstead.co.uk or phone +44 (0)7949 853308.
    We will be unable to cancel orders which have already been dispatched, in which case please follow the instructions for returning/exchanging an item.
    Refunds will be made within 10 working days.
    Import duties and local taxes will not be refunded.

  • How do I return or exchange an item?

    If for any reason you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase then please contact us as soon as possible by email or phone us +44 (0)7949 853308 and in any case within 5 working days of receipt (UK deliveries), 10 days (European deliveries), 14 days (non-European countries).
    Items must be returned in one shipment unworn and in perfect, saleable condition, with their original packaging within 14 days of notification to our office at:

    Please note that the safe return and costs involved of returning the goods is your responsibility until the goods are received at our office. We therefore strongly recommend that you use a secure, tracked service such as Royal Mail's Special Delivery and retain proof of delivery for your records.
    We will refund the price of the piece only, not the original P&P. Refunds will be made within 10 working days. Please note that refunds can only be made to the original purchaser, not the recipient if they are not the cardholder.
    Exact exchanges are possible only if an identical replacement piece is currently available.
    Please note that for hygiene reasons we are unable to refund or exchange pierced earrings.

  • Faulty or Damaged items

    Your order will have been carefully checked and securely packaged before dispatch to minimise the risk of damage in transit. However, if your order is damaged upon receipt please contact us immediately, with photographs if possible, at info@elizabethstead.co.uk or phone +44 (0)7949 853308.
    Faulty items will only be accepted if the goods are delivered to the customer damaged or if there is a subsequent manufacturing fault within a period of 6 months after delivery. All items returned as faulty will be closely inspected and any items deemed to be subject to fair wear and tear will not be accepted as faulty. We can only exchange faulty items for the same item subject to availability.
    Where possible items may be repaired on request but only where such items are deemed faulty and repairable. We do not guarantee repairs.

  • What do I do if something goes wrong?

    At Elizabeth Stead we endeavour to deliver a professional service from start to finish to ensure that your experience of dealing with us is a positive and enjoyable one and that you maintain full confidence in us.
